TAICo · Teacher-AI Complementarity
Host a Human-AI Teaming study at your institution
We are looking for partners to run a 90-minute study of how educators complete pedagogical tasks alone and with an AI assistant, and what five different forms of human-AI teaming do to performance, agency and learning.
Benefits of hosting the study
Access to a research-informed AI assistant
Developed by UCL, with technical and facilitation support.
Insights into local educators’ interactions with AI
Potentially inform institutional policies and professional development.
Opportunities to collaborate
Contribute to international research on human-AI complementarity, and explore future collaborations or publications.

The project
An EU Horizon programme on how teachers and AI work together.
TAICo studies the forms of collaboration that support teachers’ professional capabilities, agency and practice. UCL leads the work on designing and evaluating meaningful teacher-AI interactions.
Why it matters
Automating pedagogical decisions risks deprofessionalising teachers.
Yet empirical evidence remains limited on how different forms of teacher-AI interaction influence teachers’ agency and professional learning.
What we aim to find out
Evidence on how AI can complement professional judgement, not replace it.
By comparing experiences and performance across activities and contexts, the study builds collective evidence towards more human-centred AI systems in education.
